CASE STUDY: KBOP'S COVID-19 REMOTE HELP CENTRE
In response to Covid-19, KBOP set up an emergency remote help centre, which in the first month that it was live doubled the number of people in the community it was able to support.

For example, a male contacted the emergency help centre asking for help with his partner, who had severe mental health issues and was abusing substances. He felt he was being pushed to his limit: he was not able to sleep and said that he was desperate for help. During the call, KBOP established that there had been consistent abuse within the relationship, and consent was given for a referral to be made to a local domestic abuse service.
He also requested support for his ex-partner, who had consented to be contacted. KBOP made contact with her and offered emotional and practical support, which was then followed up with her care coordinator.
